Where do I even begin??

Ever had a great idea, to do something, and don't know where to begin? That's me, right about now.

When Theron and I first got together over five years ago, and I was just getting in the scene of being around his family all the time, I remember when I saw his mom working on this shell mirror(which to this day is still in complete, she's quite the procrastinor). It was huge, and beyond beautiful. It had large shells, small shells, colorful shells, rare shells, shells I have never seen before on the beach. And Lord knows how long it took her to collect all these things! She had vase upon vase filled to the brim with shells, buckets, baskets. I was a little taken aback. Then there was this time I went on the back porch and started helping her paint the shells with a clear shiny coat of paint, to keep them looking wet. she would individually paint these little, big shells each, and set them out to dry. The whole process takes a long time.. but my goodness, afterwards the shells are gorgeous. So one day I decided to try out my out little shell mirror project. I went to Michael's and bought a couple $2 plain thick frame mirrors. The wood not yet coated with paint, just sanded. I got back to Theron's house, used his mothers glue gun and some of her shells as well as mine I began to collect from the beach, and started getting at it. Took a good few hours, mind you these mirrors are not that big at all, just regular 8x10. I was beyond satisfied with the outcome. They came out as I imagined, even better!

I guess what has been weighing on my mind for quiet some time is that Id love to take this little hobby of mine further. Handcraft mirrors, frames, or anything someone throws at me. Just to make a few extra bucks on the side. Maybe have a little online shop. That brings me back to the reason of this post. Where do I even begin? I don't know how to create a website, advertise... I don't know how to do anything to get this little idea of mine started. I know there are a ton of ladies on here who have their own little shops online for all their nifty things they make. If anyone out there can help me, please do.

I've always wanted to do this, for years.. I'm motivated now more than ever, I just don't have a clue on how to go about it. I guess Landon and I better start going to the beach again to collect some sea shells, hehe.

All I needed -

• framed mirror - $4/each (From >> Michaels)
• sea shells by the sea shore - $0(you can purchase shells in any craft store)
• glue gun - $7
• patience - what's that?

I had three of the four...


An extra, but not necessary -  Polyurethane. I coat all my shells before I begin any project with them, to give them a wet, glossy look.

If shells are non store bought, clean them in a bucket or sink with 1/4 cup of bleach.


Not only is it incredibly easy, if you search for your own sea shells, it's unbelievably affordable.

And I just found this on the Michaels website, for all you parents out there.. craft to do togethers with the kids right >> hereee!

Indoor Picnic

Landon and I planned to go on a picnic today at a park near by. Unfortunately for us though, we had to cancel due to weather. Well.. not completely cancel. We did have our picnic... just.. a little bit differently then normal ones... :)

Dear Blogger,

I just spent most of my day creating a new page design. I think I may be finished doing any sort of messing around with it for a-w-h-i-l-e. I don't think I or Theron can handle anymore. He was bored out of his mind earlier. I probably said 10 more minutes at least 20 times. lol

Anyways, I truly plan to leave it this way for good. Maybe slight changes here and there. Nothing major.

Onto other things..
Theron didn't leave today like planned.. his designated boat he works on, which is currently in The Great Lakes is no longer working for the rest of the Winter(due to the lakes freezing, turning into ice), so we are patiently and loving waiting for his company to assign him to a new boat. Getting him here for a few extra days is bliss! Even though Christmas sucked us dry of money, and we are in a bit of a pickle.. I don't mind a little struggle in order to be happy. Everything always works out in the end.

In my goals for 2012, one of the items on my list is to reuse and recycle more.
That I did, today.
For Christmas, one of the things I received from Theron's mom was a container fuuull of kinds of Truffles(mmm..) Once I finished them all, I was left just this tall empty thing. As I was holding it, on my way to the trash can I saw the spaghetti boxes piled on top of each other. I say piled up because this Italian loooves her pasta. It gets eaten quick in our household. But I noticed that the height of the Truffle container was the perfect size for the noodles.

I probably saved myself around 5 - 8 bucks? Nifty little thang!

Speaking of spaghetti, tomorrow Theron and I are heading to my parents for pasta night!(see.. we even have a pasta night in my family, lol) and I think during the day, we will take Landon to the park, or possibly go walking together on the trail near their house. So tomorrow i'll be working on two things that can also be found on my list.

• getting in shape
• use my camera more often

Candle Put Together

This is a little something I had sitting around the house and took a photo of it for you all. Just something you could get an idea from and where you could place this. 

I have this in our bathroom, the candles, spa green, match our bathroom theme. 

Two cheap candles from Big Lots, they don't have to be expensive since you may not use them for their sole purpose of burning, but just for looks, :)

The twine, you can find at any art and crafts store.

The Gems, same thing, even a Walmart or Target would have them!

And the wood bowl or tray thing(seems to be in between the two) also from Big Lots, on clearance. 

I'm all about savings! who isn't?

Simple & Cozy

Jars of cute, right? I'll have plenty of that for you through out this blog. Here a quick, easy and in the end - simple, cozy, home-y decor, :)


You'll need to haaaave,

Your average Mason Jar, Twine,

Anything floral. Simple enough, right? :) I particularly love my flowers white.

Jared flowers can go with almost any style in a household, traditional, retro, rustic.. you get the idea, right? ;)

And if you're wanting the flowers to coordinate with the colors you've chosen, you want to match the floral color to your secondary choice of color in your decor. If you have more than two colors, chose the third to most common color. In doing so, they'll be more easily to catch sight of, capturing the attention of your lovely household guests!

When twining your jar, make sure to keep it as tightly as you possibly can.

After cutting your desired length of twine, find the center.

Hold the center of the string with one finger on the back of your jar, with one half of the twine - wrap it around, going upwards. Then take the other half of the string and wrap downwards. Have the two ends meet in the back. Tie in a neat bow. DON'T cut any extra twine, let it all hang for that extra homemade look.

Put as many flowers in it as appeals to you, :)

Spare coin bank. 

I dump the contents of my purse out about every two weeks, and behold there is, on average, a ton of change at the bottom that rolls out. Mason jars make a great piggy bank for loose coins!
